The arrangement location is between the Chinatown area and the Old Town preservation area, which still has a strong colonial, European and Art Deco architectural feel. This area has been designated as a Cultural Heritage Area because it holds various historical evidence of Jakarta’s development. The development of the city area in a more modern direction often results in the formation of a special, exclusive area. This condition becomes a “gap” between the old and new conditions. So, a link or integration is needed that can unite these two conditions.

The integration solution covers 3 connections, connecting people, easy access using public transportation, connectivity between the Chinatown area and the old city (horizontally). Our design also maintaining the green building aspect vertically through the application of bioswales and continuing the green elements of urban space which is reflected in the connecting place, as well as incorporating the traditional nuances of the old city in the development of the new station, both exterior (road corridor) and interior of the station. So that there is a historical connection between the past and present and the future.

The main objective of developing this MRT is to connect people because the distance and travel time to move locations becomes more effective and efficient, connecting places (Chinatown and the old city) through a process of refreshing the image of transition area corridors so that it will create a passion for new activities, connecting the nuances of the past of the reserve area. culture into development so that it merges and becomes a new history. The connection that we want to achieve is not only between humans, between places or between histories, but between humans and places/nature, humans and history, even history and place.
